Dr. Kaitlin Sholder is a small animal emergency and critical care veterinarian. She grew up in several western states including California, Colorado, and Montana. She graduated from Carroll College in Helena, Montana with a Bachelor of Arts in Health Sciences and a Biology minor with the intent of working in human medicine. Following graduation, her passion for animals and medicine revealed itself after adopting her dog Zoe and a chance encounter with some foxtails. She then worked as a veterinary technician for two years. She attended Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and obtained her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2017. Dr. Sholder then completed a one-year rotating small animal internship in medicine and surgery at WestVet Animal Emergency and Specialty Center in Boise, Idaho. Her small animal emergency career continued in private practice and then in academia at Washington State University as a Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care Clinical Instructor. Dr. Sholder’s professional interests include emergent stabilization, pain management, neurologic emergencies, respiratory emergencies, and trauma medicine.

Dr. Sholder lives with her wonderful husband, two dogs, and one cat. She enjoys the great outdoors (fishing, kayaking, camping, etc.), traveling, playing golf with her husband, and eating lots of sushi.
